Crypto tax files
TurboTax actually imports
Upload a Koinly, CoinTracker, or exchange CSV — or a 1099-DA PDF from Robinhood or Coinbase — and get a TXF ready for TurboTax Desktop, TaxAct, or H&R Block. Wash sales handled. Unknown cost basis reconciled.
What's broken in 2026
Three things crypto filers hit every season — all fixable in one conversion.
TurboTax killed CSV import
Intuit quietly removed crypto CSV imports in January 2026. "Enter manually" is the official answer — unusable at scale.
1099-DA ships with Unknown basis
Brokers report only 2025+ acquisitions. Everything older lands as Unknown — IRS assumes zero basis unless you fix it.
Exchange CSVs aren't tax files
They list transactions but don't produce a TXF, flag wash sales, or split short-term vs long-term at line level.

Frequently asked questions
Which tax software does the TXF work with?
TurboTax Desktop (all editions that support TXF import), TaxAct Desktop, and H&R Block Desktop. The online versions of these products do not accept TXF — use the Desktop installer.
TurboTax Online lost crypto CSV import. Does your TXF work there?
No. TurboTax Online does not accept TXF from any source. If you're on TurboTax Online, either switch to TurboTax Desktop for this filing or use the CSV/XLSX we provide with your CPA.
My 1099-DA has Unknown cost basis — does the converter fix that?
Yes. During the free preview step, you can upload a transaction history CSV (from Koinly, CoinTracker, or directly from the exchange) and we'll backfill cost basis by matching ticker, quantity, and acquisition date.
Do you store my tax data?
Uploads are processed in memory and deleted when your session ends. The output zip is available for 24 hours behind a signed URL and then removed. We don't store financial data, don't sell data, and there's no account to create.
What counts as a wash sale for crypto?
The IRS has not formally extended the wash sale rule to crypto, but many filers and CPAs apply it conservatively. We flag any 30-day buy-after-loss pattern and generate the adjustment — you decide whether to include it. The wash sale report breaks down every triggered position.
Is there a refund if it doesn't work?
Yes. If the TXF fails to import or the output is clearly wrong, email us within the 24-hour download window and we refund the $6.99.
